National Sport Industry Training Package (SRS03).


Certificate II in Sport (Career Oriented Participation)

FACILITIES

The Hays International College (HIC) is located in Box Hill Victoria very close to all amenities including transport and shopping and has its own outdoor and indoor training facilities.

HIC will use the Box Hill golf course which is located adjacent to the campus for golf club membership and HIC will utilise several public golf courses in the local area that are within 20 minutes of the HIC campus. HIC classroom lectures commence each morning at the HIC campus either in the classroom or golf learning centre.

All equipment and facilities within the campus are modern with the latest in training aids, including computerised video and statistical analysis equipment. All instructors are fully qualified.

All students have daily email and internet access. English classes are readily available.

COST – Enrolment100; tuition $14,000 or $7000 per term (2 terms).


LENGTH OF COURSE

The Certificate II in Sport is delivered over a period of two (10 week) terms. The course comprises compulsory core and stream units, golf specialization units and elective units and to graduate a student must complete a minimum of 29 units.

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The Certificate II in Sport (Career Oriented Participation) in golf is a qualification that allows purposeful training for any student looking for a career path in the golf industry in either a career playing golf or in areas such as teaching golf professionally ,wholesale or retail golf operations and club fitting or club making.

HIC graduates will be ready to commence careers in the golf industry anywhere in the world with an official membership of the Australian Golf Teachers Federation and membership of the World Golf teachers Federation.

AWARD


Graduating students receive  SRS20206 Certificate 11 in Sport (Career-oriented participation) if the student achieves a handicap of 12 (for males) or 18 (for females) from Golf Australia handicapping system (Golflink) plus membership of Australian Golf Teachers Federation.


ENTRY REQUIREMENT


Students must have completed Year 10, or its equivalent and be 16 years of age or older. Students should have an English level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent, with no individual score lower than 4.5, or its equivalent. Please contact HIC if you need more information on what might be equivalent, for example, completing an English course, living in an English speaking country, etc.

 

International students will need a student visa (sub-class 572 - vocational education and training).

HIC will issue your Confirmation of Enrolment after receipt of course fees deposit .

The weekly program includes-:

  • Driving range lessons at Hays own driving range
  • Unlimited practice at the indoor and outdoor training centre 7 days per week
  • Daily access to Box Hill golf course Sunday to Friday
  • Membership of Box Hill Golf Course
  • Complete equipment assessment involving launch, lie. loft, flex, swing speed, shaft and head
  • Computer swing analysis weekly
  • Classroom and Practical instruction
  • Physical training program
  • Handicap maintenance
  • Golf competitions and tournament play and transport

 

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)


Is available to provide for existing skills and knowledge. This is undertaken at HIC following an application by the student. Note that RPL may impact on the duration of a students visa for international students.


DELIVERY


Is for a minimum of 15 formal class room hours each week as well as practice and golf course play. Formal training includes classroom, on course supervision and individual and group training at the indoor/outdoor golf centre.


ASSESSMENT


Competency is assessed through regular assignments, observation-demonstration checklists, completion of National Skills Tests and examinations. Assessment support tutorials are provided to ensure students manage their assessment tasks. Students receive regular feedback on their academic progression.


TEACHING METHODS


Each student will have a weekly face-to-face training schedule, comprising practice times, golf rounds, tournament play and classroom study sessions and assignments to be completed by the student.

The program has been organized into three areas- general work and applied industry skills and golf specific skills. The students will learn all the background information and then have the opportunity to apply the skills in different situations.
